Thank you as always for your continued support.

6th generation brewer, Sato Jumpei here!

We are finally up to the point in my resume where I talk about my university days. Thank you for reading up to this point.

From high school in Sakata City I went on to attend Tokyo University of Agriculture, to major in the fermentation faculty. As I am sure you are aware, it is a school that serves as a sort of gateway for the sons of many a famous sake brewery. I heard that now, thanks to the influence of ‘Moyashimon’ (manga about fermentation), it is enjoying higher grades and receiving students with even higher standards. However, back when I joined, there was a sort of fast track entrance for sons of sake breweries, where a simple short essay and an interview was enough to get you accepted so by November there was no studying to do. I don’t know if and how much university entrance has changed, but if I were to apply now I probably wouldn’t get in. (laughs).

Even though I was never pressured by my parents into taking over the brewery business, by the time I decided to enter Tokyo University of Agriculture I had no doubts about doing so. That being said, the fact that I was oblivious to my family business’s situation and the state of the sake industry was probably for the best.
