The plot up until the last issue:
A 6th Generation Brewer received word of qualification at the Tenshin Tenman Plum Wine Championships. He then flew off to Osaka to attend the awards ceremony.

It was almost time to face the music. All participants that had made it into the top rank, assembled at the Tenmangu Shrine, and prepared to partake in the ceremony; my head office had filled me in about the group photo session after the proceedings.

We had only just made it through qualification so I myself didn’t have great expectations; I just felt lucky, content with the fact that I had been able to come to Osaka.
So into the awards ceremony we went. The other breweries were called up one by one and presented with a certificate but TATENOKAWA,Inc.’s name was not forthcoming, and just as I was thinking something might be amiss, we entered the announcement of the winning brand. And the result, yes you’ve guessed it. Somehow, my company’s “KODAKARA” DAIGINJO PLUM WINE, an entry that had only just made it through qualification, had won and was now shining as the ‘No.1 Plum Wine in Japan’.
From the moment the result was announced, I was dumbstruck. I couldn’t think straight and my winning speech was nothing short of ordinary. However, more than anything I was pleased that trial production of a plum wine made with a base of Daiginjo had been recognised.

Looking back now, we were in our third year of the “KODAKARA” liqueurs business, and there had been twists and turns along the way, but to gain such recognition of the brand felt like one big step. I would just like to take this opportunity to once again express my deep gratitude to all the stockists, distributors and customers who have supported us throughout the brand’s commercialisation.
